Tomorrow coin dawns for 'Truth'
Midwestern laffer penned by Coolidge, Jarvis

Hollywood -- Production, sales and distribution entity Tomorrow Film Corp. has committed to fully finance "Truth or Dare: Not the Madonna Movie," in turnaround from New Line Cinema, which originally bought the property in 1998 (Daily Variety, Oct. 23, 1998).

Pic, to be produced by Adam Fields, is described as a broad comedy set in a Midwestern suburban town during a long American summer, as a group of teenagers settle their differences through a game of truth or dare, with outrageous consequences.

Greg Coolidge and Joe Jarvis penned the script for the $7 million to $8 million budgeted film, expected to go into production in Los Angeles imminently. As yet, however, no cast or director are attached.

Tomorrow, headed by president Yoram Pelman, will handle worldwide sales rights to the pic.

Writing team of Coolidge and Jarvis, who are repped by Broder, Kurland, Webb, Uffner, most recently teamed on the Touchstone Pictures comedy "Dog Catcher," directed by Wallace Wolodarsky and starring Heather Matarazzo, Omar Miller, Michael Rosenbaum, Bree Turner, Barry Watson and Harland Williams, which will be released next year. They also penned the short "Queen for a Day," which Coolidge directed.

Upcoming slate

Fields is producing "Josiah's Canon" for 20th Century Fox and helmer Brad Silberling. Penned by Jeff King with a most recent draft by Phil Alden Robinson, pic is a dramatic heist story about a Holocaust survivor who leads the world's foremost team of bank robbers. The criminal mastermind sets his sights on an impenetrable bank in Switzerland, which purportedly houses money deposited by Jews killed in concentration camps.

Fields most recently produced "Donnie Darko," which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Drew Barrymore and Noah Wyle, and marks the feature writing-directing debut of Richard Kelly.

Barrymore's Flower Films produced the pic with Fields and Gaylord. Pic will be released domestically by Newmarket.

Fields' other credits include "Brokedown Palace."

Tomorrow Film Corp.'s upcoming slate includes "The Third Wheel," starring Luke Wilson, Denise Richards and Ben Affleck for director Jordan Brady; "Till Human Voices Wake Us," directed by Michael Petroni, starring Guy Pearce and Helena Bonham Carter; and "Double Bang," directed by Heywood Gould and starring William Baldwin, Jon Seda and Elizabeth Mitchell.
